Merry Christmas everyone! Thank you again for the lovely gifts, thoughtful cards and well wishes, it's so much appreciated! We hope and pray your holiday is filled with fun, family and friends as we celebrate Jesus' birth! Concert today!

3 year old concert today! Classes cancelled for the day. Please come at 10:45 AM, bring a SMALL plate of goodies (1/2 dozen) to share.

No Preschool today!!

School is cancelled due to snow, busses do not run in this weather therefore we need to shut down for the day.

The four year old concert is ON tonight. See you at 6:15 at the Primary Campus! Bring a few goodies to share. Also, a reminder for 3 year old parents, classes are cancelled on Thursday as we will perform our concert at 11:00 AM in Room #1. Please plan to arrive around 10:45 and bring a few goodies to share. Some of you are also wondering what your child should wear. It is up to you and your child whether they get dressed up or not, casual or dressy is fine.

Christmas concert

Hello everyone! Just want to clear up some questions surrounding the Christmas concerts: There was some misinformation on the school website. The primary school concert will NOT be a PRE-K to grade 3 concert, but a KINDERGARTEN to grade 3 concert. I'm sorry for the confusion. The 4 year old program is on Tuesday, December 18 at 6:30 PM. Refer to your newsletter for details. The 3 year old program is on Thursday, December 20 at 11:00 AM. Again, refer to your newsletter, the sign up sheet is on the parent board in the hallway. If you need another newsletter, please ask one of the teachers, the Christmas concert invitations are posted on the parent board (it was attached to the December newsletter), extra copies are available, just ask!!

BLUE DAY

Wear something BLUE and bring something BLUE for show and tell on Tuesday and Wednesday!!

Harvest celebration!

Today and tomorrow is harvest dressup day! Come dressed as your favorite farm animal, vegetable or come as a farmer/cowboy/cowgirl!

Pumpkin Patch tomorrow!!!

Hi everyone, our field trip is tomorrow, be prepared for muck! We go rain or shine! Meet us at 9:25 (AM and 9-1 program) and at 12:40 (PM program). Bring a labelled shopping bag for your pumpkin and we will provide a small snack. You may bring your own small snack/drink if you like. 9-1 program students are welcome to come back to preschool from 11-1. Please pack along a lunch as usual. See you tomorrow!!

Pumpkin Patch!!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! Wasn't it just beautiful? My kids were playing with their cousins out in the yard until past dark after turkey dinner!! A reminder that TUESDAY, October 9 is the pumpkin patch field trip for the 3 year old classes. Please meet at the patch at 9:25 and 12:40 for morning and afternoon classes. Classes will not be in session tomorrow. Bring a plastic bag with your child's name on it for easier carrying of pumpkins. See you there, and remember sunscreen instead of umbrellas!!! Yay!!

Photo Day!

Tomorrow and Tuesday is picture day. Make sure your child doesn't wear green. Previews will get sent home in a few weeks. If your child misses photo day there will be retakes in October.

Welcome!!!

Hi everyone! Welcome to our preschool blog! We hope your children have enjoyed their first one or two classes! It can be overwhelming at first, getting them settled and into a new routine but you will be amazed at how quickly your child will get accustomed to the schedule and before you know it, it's Thanksgiving!! If you have any questions or concerns about your child, please do not hesitate to ask a teacher. Also, if you still have outstanding paperwork (financials, emergency cards etc) that needs to be completed, please do so as soon as possible. Okay, so last official post for the 2011/2012 preschool season...sigh...Thanks everyone for lending your children to us...it was a fun year! Last week.....

I write this with mixed emotions....we are happy that summer is right around the corner....but sad that we have to say goodbye to so many children who put smiles on our faces every day we saw them and even when we didn't see them!! I told the 4's this morning that they could come back to preschool in September, that they didn't have to go to kindergarten. I heard a lot of 'no's' and "we have to go to kindergarten"...but then I got a lot of hugs, so all is good in the world. Each promised to come and visit us....Have a fabulous, safe, fun summer and DO visit us next year when you get a chance...and to our 3's growing into 4's...we will see you again in September...can't wait!! God bless you :)

Father's Day Event this week!

Our Father's Day celebration will be on Tuesday night, June 12 at 6:30 PM at our Primary Campus gymnasium. This evening is designed for your child and their father or grandfather or uncle etc. It will be about an hour of activities, a small performance and snacks/coffee. It's not too late to sign up if you are coming, the sign up sheet is hanging up in the hallway. Thanks!!!

Preschool Sport's Day!!

This Friday is Sport's Day at Fleetwood Park. We will meet at 9:30 at the park, with games starting at 10:00AM. Families welcome, please bring your own snacks/refreshments, lawnchairs etc. Please be aware that there is a waterpark and playground, please dress accordingly. IF it is raining, we will reschedule for Wednesday, June 6, same time. Preschool WILL be in session if the sports day is postponed. Preschool will NOT be in session on sports day. Please check this blog on Friday morning after 7:30 to see if we will have sports day. Also, please remember to bring a rock to school as soon as possible for a special project we are doing next week. Thanks!!

Mother's Day Tea this week...

Hello everyone, just a reminder that this Wednesday and Thursday it is Mother's Day Tea. It will take place in your child's classroom for the last 45 minutes of class time. Please return to your child's class 45-50 minutes early to watch a short program and enjoy refreshments with your child. Please bring your favorite mug! See you soon!!

Surrey Nature Centre Field Trip

We are going rain or shine tomorrow with the 3's, Friday with the 4's and Monday with the 9-1 program.

Meet us there, go directly to the park, do NOT come to preschool first.

9:30-11:00 for AM classes
12:00-1:30 for PM classes

14255 96 Ave. You may only turn right into the park. It is right before you reach Fraser Hwy.

Please wear boots and raincoats, umbrellas discouraged. There are washrooms available. Siblings are welcome for $5 each. Feel free to bring a snack, we will provide granola bars. Please arrive a few minutes early.

April showers......

Happy April everyone....SO SORRY it has been a month since I have updated the blog...time has slipped away from me! Here are some reminders for this week:

1) Bring 2 hard boiled eggs for Wednesday and Thursday....sorry for the mixup on the calendar!
2) Preschool closed: Good Friday and Easter Monday
3) Please let us know if you are NOT coming on the field trip next week Thursday/Friday...siblings welcome for $5.

On Wednesday, February 29 students, staff and parents are encouraged to wear pink shirts to bring awareness to bullying issues and what we can do to create a safe and respectful environment in our classrooms and communities.

Class photos

Class picture day has been changed to this coming Wednesday and Thursday! We are aiming for 9:15 and 12:30 for the 2.5 hour classes and 9:30 for the 4 hour program. You will need to pay for the photo on the day it is taken. They are $6 each, you can get an envelope from the preschool teachers.

This week at Surrey Christian Preschool

This week is busy!! Please remember:

Monday/Thursday: A very special visit from Mrs. Jansen, a dental hygenist. Ask your child what thumbs up food is for your teeth and what a dentist's job is.

Wednesday: Hot Lunch for 9-1 program. Library day for all classes. Pajama/stuffy day for all classes. Your child does NOT have to wear jammies to school if he/she doesn't want to, encourage them to bring their favorite stuffy instead. Bring a piece of fruit to make fruit salad to take home. Please send a snack to school still for snack time.

Gymnastics field trip!

We will not be cancelling the field trip unless no one shows up....not sure what the roads are like but Mrs. denHoed has four wheel drive so we will head out and meet anyone that is willing to go. Since we don't have to be there till 9:50 or so, the roads have more of a chance to clear and not be icy.

Field trip directions

Surrey Gymnastics is located on the Frank Hurt Secondary school campus. Turn left into parking lot and there will be a sign to your left at the back of the building for Surrey Gymnastics. Park and then follow the direction signs to get in.

1) Gymnastics Field Trip to Surrey Gymnastics 13940 77th Ave. on Friday, Jan. 20 for the AM and PM 2.5 hour preschool classes! We meet there at 9:50 AM.
2) The 9-1 program will still have preschool Friday! Remember it is hot lunch at 12:00 and early dismissal at 12:30.
