This week is busy!! Please remember:

Monday/Thursday: A very special visit from Mrs. Jansen, a dental hygenist. Ask your child what thumbs up food is for your teeth and what a dentist's job is.

Wednesday: Hot Lunch for 9-1 program. Library day for all classes. Pajama/stuffy day for all classes. Your child does NOT have to wear jammies to school if he/she doesn't want to, encourage them to bring their favorite stuffy instead. Bring a piece of fruit to make fruit salad to take home. Please send a snack to school still for snack time.

Gymnastics field trip!

We will not be cancelling the field trip unless no one shows up....not sure what the roads are like but Mrs. denHoed has four wheel drive so we will head out and meet anyone that is willing to go. Since we don't have to be there till 9:50 or so, the roads have more of a chance to clear and not be icy.

Surrey Gymnastics is located on the Frank Hurt Secondary school campus. Turn left into parking lot and there will be a sign to your left at the back of the building for Surrey Gymnastics. Park and then follow the direction signs to get in.

1) Gymnastics Field Trip to Surrey Gymnastics 13940 77th Ave. on Friday, Jan. 20 for the AM and PM 2.5 hour preschool classes! We meet there at 9:50 AM.
2) The 9-1 program will still have preschool Friday! Remember it is hot lunch at 12:00 and early dismissal at 12:30.

This Tuesday, December 13 at 6:30 at the Secondary Campus is our Christmas performance!! Parking is around the west side of the highschool and on the north side as well. The north side entrance is where you will enter the building and go left to the Performing Arts Centre (PAC). There will be signs on the door directing you where to go. Please bring 1/2 dozen goodies to share and enjoy refreshments after the show. Children can dress up if they want too, but it is not mandatory. See you there tomorrow night!

Extended 9-1 Program: Your field trip to the pumpkin patch is on Friday at 9:25AM. Please go directly to Rondriso Farms and the teachers will meet you there. Here are some things to remember for this week:

1) Picture day: Monday and Tuesday for all preschool classes...individual photos will be taken. You will get proofs in a few weeks as well as an opportunity for retakes.
2) September birthday celebrations at the end of the week. If your child had a birthday in September you can bring in something special to celebrate. However, we ask that you refrain from cupcakes etc. as we won't be eating it in class and is hard to hand out. Some suggestions if you want your child to give something out: stickers, pencils etc. (goodie bag items). We also ask that you refrain from handing out treats such as hard candy as this is a major choking hazard for young children. Thankyou for your understanding!
3) Fire Drill: We will be practising monthly fire/emergency drills with the children so please be aware that we will be talking about this and practicing in class this week.

Hi everyone, finally got a few minutes to sign on and say WELCOME to our preschool blog! It's been great getting settled in and getting to know your adorable children! The kids have been loving our Nursery Rhyme theme, especially Humpty Dumpty, as well as getting to know eachother's names. Good morning! Looks like it's getting brighter out there so let's go for it! We'll see you around 10:00 AM, dress in layers as it is probably cooler down there. We will meet at the end of Beecher Street in 'downtown' Crescent Beach area, by the public bathrooms and the restaurants. Parking is in the local neighbourhood, be aware of no parking signs in front of some residential homes. On the beach, look for a couple of helium balloons and my purple beach chair! Hi everyone. Can't believe we are in our last week of our preschool year once again! Here are some important reminders about this week and next:

1) June/July/August Birthday celebrations are Wednesday/Thursday. Feel free to bring a birthday treat to hand out at the end of class, but don't feel obligated!
2) Children are encouraged to bring a show and tell this week with the theme being "Ocean". ALL children are invited to do so, so that everyone gets one more turn for show and tell!
3) Wednesday PM class (15th), Thursday class (16th) and Friday class(17th) are our last classes for this year. Please ensure you take all belongings including art work, nametags off cubbies, earthquake kits, etc. Anything not taken will be left with the office for you to pick up at a time convenient for you!
4) TOMORROW NIGHT: Father's Day Event at Primary Campus Gymnasium, 6:30 PM. This is a great evening, we will making a yummy snack together as well as a fun craft, Lego station and we'll sing some songs for you too! If you didn't RSVP, please do so as soon as possible so we know how many are coming.
5) Crescent Beach Party day: We will be handing out maps this week with instructions. We will meet on the main beach close to the fish and chips restaurant on Monday, June 20. Please bring your own snacks, lawn chairs, toys. IF the weather is bad, check the blog to see if we are going or not. Tuesday the 21st is our alternate day.

Here is what to remember for this week:

1) Christmas program: TUESDAY, DEC. 14 **Please arrive a little early if you can (between 6:15 and 6:25) so that you can bring your child to the bathroom and then drop them off in the kindergarten room. Attire is up to you, it is a Christmas program so they can dress up if they want to. Please bring a half dozen goodies to share. Refreshments will be served after the program.

2) We are celebrating December birthdays on Wednesday and Thursday.

3) Grade 3 Buddies will be Wednesday or possibly Friday morning.

4) Last day of school is Friday. School will resume on TUESDAY, Jan. 4, 2011.

Wow!! Hard to believe it is the last week of preschool for the season. Here are some things to remember for this week:

1) Father's Day Event: Tuesday night at 6:30PM at the Primary Campus Gym. Should last about an hour or so. Please RSVP if you haven't already done so.

3) Year end slideshow, Wed/Thurs: Please join us if possible for the last 20 minutes or so of class time to watch a slideshow of the kids hard at play at preschool.

4)Encourage your child to bring in signs of spring to share with the class...(ie: buds, flowers, green leaves...etc)

5)Thursday: Field trip to Green Timbers for TTH AM class. Meet promptly at Surrey Nature Centre at 9:30. Travel west on 96th Ave. towards Fraser Hwy. Turn right at the Surrey Nature sign and follow the driveway all the way to the end, just follow the signs straight ahead. You will see some small buildings and that is where we will meet, there is lots of parking. Dress rain or shine, snack provided. If weather is nice you are free to stay and enjoy the park.

**Please let us know if you will not be able to make it, so we know not to wait for you!

6)We are trying to go outside when it is not raining, but the playground is still wet and mucky at times. Rubber boots are best to send for this time of year, they keep your child's feet dry and they are easier for them to put on which saves times! Thanks!

Tuesday: Library storytime 9:00 AM (come to preschool at regular time, parental assistance not needed, but you are welcome to stay)

Wednesday and Thursday: Olympic theme day, wear Olympic colors! Also, bring in your class photo envelopes with $6 for class photos to be taken at the beginning of each class. The fee includes a memory book which you will receive at the end of the school year.

Next week is birthday celebrations and a Professional Day for the school. We will be attending a preschool focus day in Langley with other Christian school preschool teachers.

Hope you had a chance to get outside and enjoy the sunshine today!
Please remember that this Wednesday and Thursday is RED AND GREEN DAY! Children can wear red and/or green, as well as bring something that is red and/or green for show and tell. We have retired the show and tell bag until January, so this is their opportunity to each have a turn this week!

We are busy practicing our Christmas songs, you may have heard your child singing a tune here and there :) The concert is coming soon, Tuesday, December 15, 6:30 PM in the school gym. Look for the invitation attached to the December newsletter. Friends and family welcome!

If you would like to see the project the 4 year olds worked on with their grade 2/3 buddies last week, take a walk down the grade 3/4 wing and look at the bulletin board outside the grade 2/3 classroom. They did a fantastic job and really enjoyed spending time with their buddies. We will be joining up again in the new year for another art project.

If you have any concerns or questions about your child, please do not hesitate to talk to one of the teachers. We would love to answer your questions and take the time to get to know you better.

Re-registration for preschool 2010/2011 will begin in January. We will send a registration form home with you at that time.

Hello everyone, hope you had a chance to enjoy our school's FUN FAIR on Saturday! Here are a few things that are happening this week at Surrey Christian Preschool:
1) We are celebrating November birthdays on Tuesday and Wednesday. You are welcome to bring a goodie bag or something small for the children in your child's class if you wish. Please refrain from bringing candy/cake/mini muffins unless it is something we can hand out at the end of class. Cake will not be served during class. There are 19 children in M/W/F AM, 11 in M/W PM and 15 children in T/TH AM.
2) A fire/emergency drill will be practiced in each class this week. Once a month, we practice and talk about what to do in an emergency with the children at circle time.
3) Mrs. Yzerman will be away on Thursday for the grade 1 field trip. Miss Julie will be subbing for us on this day.
4) Friday is a Professional Day, school is closed.
5) We will be moving into a new unit soon "Christmas around the world". If you have any special Christmas traditions you celebrate with your family and would like to come in and share them with us, let us know!

Cooler weather is here, send mitts (no finger kind), warm coats and rubber boots!

We are loving our unit on Pets!! Please let us know if your family has a small pet to bring for show and tell.

PET DRESSUP DAY ~ This Wednesday and Thursday, your child can dressup as a pet, this is not a mandatory event, if your child would rather observe, that is just fine!

Hello again! Hope you are all enjoying your blustery weekend so far! Just a reminder that our PUMPKIN PATCH field trip to RONDRISO FARMS is coming up.
Tuesday/Thursday class: October 15
Monday/Wednesday/Friday class: October 16
***Please remember NOT to come to school on your field trip day. Go straight to the farm and meet in the parking lot at 9:25 AM. We start at 9:30 AM Sharp. We should be finished around 11:00, this field trip will not be cancelled if raining, please dress appropriately.

Monday/Wednesday PM Class will be going on Wednesday, October 21, 12:40PM,we should be finished around 2:15PM. Again, meet us at the patch and please dress appropriately for the weather.

Please sign up if you are going, siblings will cost $6, extra adults will cost $2, one parent per child will be covered by the preschool. See you soon!

HI everyone!! Welcome to Surrey Christian Preschool's blog! Our goal is to update this blog about twice a month. Check often for reminders, upcoming events and fun pics of your children hard at play.

Upcoming important dates:
The preschool is closed on October 8/9/12 for Teacher's Convention and Thanksgiving. Your preschool teachers will also be attending to continue their education, network with other preschool teachers and be fed spiritually. Enjoy the long weekend with your families and friends, giving thanks to our Creator!!

Thankyou for all of your support and patience as we settle into a new year. The children have adjusted very quickly and though we are still learning our new routines with a few tears along the way, everyone comes in with big smiles ready for a new day!
